Arts as education balance

Art, is often heralded as a counterweight education experts in education / teaching and learning activities, but is it true?
As an extension of the question, its also raise below two question below:

Do we really understand the meaning of the word (balance)?
Do Art and Culture is to balance?

Controlled Structured and Developments

Discourses change and informal barriers are always evolving. Nevertheless, these barriers confine the economy of the arts; the economy is less open than expected. Informal barriers not only confine, but also structure the economy of the arts.

Therefore, the results of people’s activities in the arts are not altogether unpredictable. In this context, I will offer a few remarks on the origin and the mechanism of change in the arts. They may contribute to the understanding of the economy of the arts.

Lighting of arts

Why we need lighting in arts? Because art can not be seen without illumination especially if it occurs in a cast of fine arts. While it’s easy to hang a painting or sculpture and set light to shine on it but don’t you know the result not always the same in each arts work.

As a matter of fact, such approaches may lead to less exposure to light the artistic and look dull. These feelings are confusing to enjoy a painting in a gallery space and then bring it home, hang it and it turns up in the house does not look as good on the gallery as you paid for it. As an economist, however, I pointed out that the notion of under consumption is difficult to maintain when increased consumption figures are taken into account. It’s not just that real per capita expenditure on art increases, but also an increasing proportion of income is devoted to art. The fine arts are no exception.

Therefore, what puzzles me as an economist is not that the volume of consumption is not higher, but that the number of artists does not decrease in response to demand, so that eventually more normal incomes could be earned. Instead, there are so many artists wanting to work, that only at the present low level of income supply and demand meet.

Incomes in the arts

Just because top incomes in the arts exceed those in other professions does not mean that the average income of artists is also higher. On the contrary, evidence indicates that the average income among artists is lower than in comparable professions.

Therefore, by going into the arts, artists endure an income penalty. If they were to choose another occupation, they would earn more money. According to an early us census report, only employees of the church faced larger income penalties than artists.
